Welcome to Heroes Charity Riders Supporting Afghan Heroes

Since the start of operations in October 2001 439 British forces personnel have lost their lives while serving in Afghanistan – many more have been injured.

Behind that bold statistic is the untold story of the grief suffered by families, the trauma suffered by colleagues and the lives that have been changed forever.

In July 2009 the mother of a soldier who died in an explosion in Afghanistan had the idea to set up a charity to provide support for those directly involved in the conflict. She found other mothers with the same feelings and Afghan Heroes was launched.

The registered charity aims to help our service personnel directly on the front line; the families of those who have fallen and our returning service personnel who have witnessed these horrific losses of their fellow comrades.

Heroes Charity Riders was started by Afghan Heroes and is now is headed up by a man nicknamed 'Stitch'. He was working one evening driving his truck when the rain grew too heavy and he had to pull over to a lay-by. He was listening to the radio when an announcemount was made about the Afghan conflict. Eight soldiers had lost their lives, with this Stitch made a resoloution to help in any way he could, this website, the fund raising and the Heroes Charity Riders is a result of 'Stitch's' effort, time and commitment to Afghan Heroes and the UK Armed Forces.
